Welcome
Hello and welcome to our website. We really appreciate all the support we are getting for this fundraiser. Before you proceed further, please let me give you a little background on this cause.
As most of you know, Tony and Kit Horton’s mother passed away earlier this spring from a battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lung Cancer. Although I did not have the opportunity to know Jean Horton, I was honored to be present as her family and friends celebrated her life. I got a very keen insight as to the amazing person she was. She had many accomplishments including Vice-President of her class at the University of Rhode Island, Captain of the Cheerleading squad, a flight attendant with TWA and a real estate agent for many years. Let’s not forget her most important accomplishment: raising three very caring individuals, Tony, Kit and their sister Mary Beth, all of whom have done so much to change the lives of others.
This June, Tony is joining Kit and me at a Super Saturday event in the Boston area. This is the first time that Tony and Kit have worked together at a fitness event so I am sure it will be very special for both of them. When Jean passed away, I saw the outpouring of sympathy to Tony and Kit and I was trying to think of a way that I and others could show our support for the family. I came up with an idea for a way for all of us to give back to Tony and Kit for all they have done to positively impact our lives while at the same time, honor the memory of their mom Jean by donating to a charity that was important to her.
I have created the Jean Horton Memorial Fund and through discussions with Jean’s family, have designated two charities to be recipients of our donations. They are the American Parkinson Association and St. Clare’s Catholic Church in Westerly, RI, the church from which Jean and her husband Tony have worshipped for many years.
My Hope is to “secretly” raise donations from now until our event and then present a check to the Hortons on June 26th. I plan to leave it up to the family to decide how to allocate the donations. I really would like this to be a surprise. Knowing Kit and Tony, they would both say that this is unnecessary but I know they will be deeply touched by this gesture and the generosity of everyone who contributes. The Beachbody network is so caring and supportive, I am confident that this will be extremely successful.
Any donation amount will be deeply appreciated. Simply click on the donate link and make your online tax-deductible donation. Please feel free to share this link with others but please don't use social media. This gift will be so much more special if it is a surprise.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Best regards,
Susan Lucy
